The car looks like a 1962 Corvette and the sign next to it says it's a 1962 Corvette, but when a car is completely rebuilt from the frame up by a father and son team, it's tough to really call it a Corvette. The car should really be called a Billie and Bill Bartenstein limited edition.
Whatever you decide to call it, the original body panels are now accompanied by a curry polished rear end, four link suspension, LS3 engine and a five-speed Tremec transmission. All told, Bill Sr. estimates that the Corvette gets somewhere between 450 and 460 horsepower.
Drivers can also be comforted knowing that the car has been given power windows, power steering, and a convertible top to go along with leather reclining seats (The seats only recline a few inches, but Bartenstein is proud of the fact that they even recline at all). The center consoles have also been custom colored Atomic Orange in order to match the overall color scheme of the car.
One other notable characteristic of the car though, is the side exhaust system that shoots all the engine noise at nearby motorists.
"It sounds so loud that it surprises people," says Bartenstein.
