When the 1939 Ford came out 70 years ago, DVD players, remote controls and air bags had yet to be invented. So seeing Bill Bartenstein's 1939 Ford fully loaded with all of today's modern luxuries is a bit startling. After all, part of the reason classic cars are beloved is because they don't have the frills of modern cars.
Fortunately for Bartenstein, his Ford manages to combine the best of both worlds. It has a new Z06 LS7 motor and an L460 transmission, but has been completely remodeled inside: a DVD player, rear camera, convertible top, signal lights on the side mirrors, and digital display gauges are just a few of the additions.
As Bartenstein says, "It's got everything."
It even has Ostrich leather seats. Which may be an unusual alteration, but this is an unusual car. Bartenstein has even rigged up a remote control system to power virtually every device. The convertible top, windows, engine, and the trunk are just a few of the things that can be operated with a simple push of a button.
Besides modernizing the interior, this Ford's engine got a complete overhaul. Bartenstein replaced the engine with a Z06 Ls7 motor and an L 460 transmission.
